About Charter Schools
Charter schools give Michigan families the opportunity to choose a public school that best fits their child's needs, interests, and educational goals. Like traditional public schools, charter schools are tuition-free and open to all eligible students. They are public schools held accountable for student achievement, responsible stewardship of public resources, and meeting state and federal educational requirements.
Each charter school is governed by a public Board of Directors appointed by the school's authorizer. The Board is responsible for overseeing the school and ensuring that it fulfills its mission, meets its academic and financial responsibilities, and serves students and families well. Charter schools may also partner with an educational service provider to bring additional expertise and support to the school.
Bradford Academy is a tuition-free public charter school authorized by Bay Mills Community College and managed by Choice Schools Associates. Together, the Board, authorizer, school leadership, and management team work to ensure Bradford remains focused on its mission and accountable to the scholars and families it serves.
