High School Essays

A one-page, handwritten essay on one of the following questions is required for acceptance into Bradford Academy High School. The essay should be handwritten and attached to the student’s completed application packet. (Applicants may select one of the following questions for their handwritten essay.)

  • Compare a historical figure with a current figure in the public eye. In a well-organized essay, describe how both have been considered leaders during their times. What similarities and differences do they possess?
  • Consider a person, invention, scientific discovery or concept that has changed the world in a significant way. In a well-organized essay, describe how this has changed the world, and give examples.
  • From a novel or play of literary merit, select an important character who is a villain. Then, in a well-organized essay, analyze the nature of the character’s villainy and show how it enhances meaning in the work. Do not merely summarize the plot.
